The client for this project is Griffith University’s Queensland college of Art (QCA), which is the leading creative arts school in Brisbane. They have requested me to redesign Griffith University’s QCA forecourt to adapt to the functionality of the space. Therefore, I have proposed to the client a modern and creative design that fits the provided brief. It was proposed that I redesign a space that brings together the QCA community. A 3 month time frame has been given with the request that we include:
• A space that encourages the student body to stay and socialise on campus
• An attractive walk-through area for students, staff and visitors with clear
signage to the various areas of QCA and GUAM
• A showcase for the work of QCA students and staff
• A clear and visible acknowledgment of the traditional custodians of the land
• A space that is underpinned by ecological and sustainable design, signaling the
values of QCA and Griffith
I have presented the client with a design proposal that incorporates these requests into the final design. The client has also asked me to adapt to modern technology, however, I have proposed to the client technology that is suitable for the users of the university.
