SUSTAINABLE CHAIR
The client for this project requested us to design a sustainable chair that followed the Bauhaus movement. The chair was required to incorporate marginalisation and environmental degradation. The most important aspect of this chair that was retained from the original is the form of the seat, as this is linked to the identity of the chair. Disability marginalisation and deforestation were incorporated into the chair redesign, recreating a classic chair using modern problems. This was done by creating a chair that gave comfort to a family member or carer of a person with a disability, especially in a hospital setting. The chair uses recycled materials, to decrease deforestation.
