MICRO - ARCHITECTURE

This project required me to design a structure that fits the brief of 'Micro Architecture.' My client requested that we design student housing that will suitably occupy 2 people, with sleeping, eating, studying and entertainment spaces. Although a lot of this has already been designed, my client wanted to create a house that students can enjoy and fits all their needs. The client wanted us to give the students a space where they could study and entertain together, as well as have their own spaces to study within the house. An extra in the area could include a reading nook as well as spaces for guests. The dwelling should feel homely through the modern design and colours. The designated space is 72sqm, with a ground floor that is designed for public entertainment, eating and study spaces; and a first level that houses two individual private pods, which have studying, sleeping and entertainment spaces. After researching, it was found that there are multiple student apartments available in Southbank but insufficient houses where students have their own space and entertainment areas, which is also close to University's and other tertiary institutes in Southbank. Most of the houses are only suitable for one person, therefore, the client wanted to challenge this and create a space that is available in Southbank that is modern but also cheap for students.
